Advocating for More Mental Health Funding

January, 25, 2019

Today Sue Barnes & Craig McKenzie from St. Clair Child & Youth Services represented the mental health needs of our community at the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs as part of their pre-budget consultations. SCCYS highlighted the unique needs of our community and called on government to increase their funding to community mental health programs by $150 million per year.

MPP's heard from Lindsay Kirkland & Macey Leppington, members of Voices of Youth, who stole the show by sharing their personal experiences from inside the gap in our mental health system.  The joined the call call for increased funding to child & youth mental health services so that other children, youth, and families don't have to share their struggles and frustration.

Please note that as a result of COVID-19 safety precautions our Walk-In Clinics and County Mental Health Clinics are on hold however, our services remain OPEN.  To schedule an appointment or find out more, please contact our Intake Dept. at (519) 337-3701.
