Life with a new baby involves many joys as well as many changes and unexpected challenges. The Postpartum Adjustment Program offers a range of services to support mothers, fathers and families while they adjust to their life with a new baby. It is our mission to help families thrive and reach their fullest potential during this important time in their lives.

Acting out Behaviour
This is often the most common concern of parents and can include issues like lack of cooperation, defiance, non- compliance, aggression and hostility. If your efforts to curb these problems is not helping to achieve the change you're looking for we can help. Moods/feelings
Children and youth experience challenges in managing and adapting to changes in moods and feelings at different stages in their development. For some, these experiences are intense and persistent leading to difficulties in day to day functioning as well as stressing personal relationships. Uncharacteristic Behaviour
As your child's parent you know them best. If your child's behaviour is out of character and it persists that can be a signal that something is troubling them. A helpful parental response can include sharing your concerns with your child and assuring them you will do your best to help. Problems with Self Harm
If your child is expressing thoughts of harming themselves or is actively engaged in behaviour that is putting their well being at risk, this is sign that assistance is required. Parents who consider their child at risk of self harm should present their child at the emergency department of Bluewater Health for assessment. St. Clair Child and Youth Services provides a follow-up program for children and youth upon referral from the hospital or Click here.

Problems at School
School functioning is often the first thing that gets affected when a child or youth is experiencing difficulties at home or in the community. Other conditions such as learning problems or developmental disorders can also impair school functioning. Problems with Substance Abuse
As a parent if your are concerned that your child or youth's attraction to alcohol and drugs is beyond experimentation and is leading to other problems St. Clair Child and Youth Services offers specific programming to address problems with substance abuse and mental health.
