Cost
- Is there a fee?

Generally there are no fees attached. Services are funded by the Ontario Government, County of Lambton and the United Way. Exceptions occur when requesting records for certain legal proceedings. If a youngster is admitted to the Therapeutic Family Program the federal child tax credit is redirected to the youth's placement while the youth is in the program.

Privacy
- If my child and family receive service from St. Clair Child and Youth Services is this confidential?

Yes, exceptions are limited to those required by law. - What happens when I refer my child or youth?

You will be directed to our Referral Coordinator who will provide an appoint to take our referral. This process is completed by telephone. If you are referring for a placement in the Therapeutic Family Program you will be redirected to Starrting Point. - Who has access to information I may provide as a result of receiving services from St. Clair Child and Youth Services?

Access to information you provide is generally limited to staff at St. Clair who need your information in order to provide services and to third parties to whom legal guardians or youth over 16 have consented to, in writing to share information. - Are there exceptions?

Only those allowed by law. They include the provision of information necessary to report child protection concerns to the Children’s Aid Society, orders to disclose information made by a court of law and reports to police concerning threats to individual or public safety.
Referring A Child/Youth
- Who can make a referral?

Referrals are accepted from parents, youth 12 years of age and over as well as third parties. Referral from a physician is not necessary. In most cases this will require direct contact with the parent/legal guardian or youth 12 years of age or over in order to collect information required by the Province of Ontario.
